C-TRIC Pharmacogenomics Unmet Clinical Needs Workshop

On 8th February 2023 C-TRIC hosted a Pharmacogenomics Unmet Clinical Needs Workshop. C-TRIC gathered international subject matter experts, including Professors Sir Munir Pirmohamed, Ron van Schaik, Matt Brown, Bill Newman, and Dr. John McDermott. In addition C-TRIC brought together clinicians, industry, funding bodies, regulators, policy makers and academics to come together to share insights on the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics to improve patient outcomes and productivity.

Excellent presentations across the day covered the need to identify areas of unmet clinical needs for both mental health and cardiometabolic disease. The central focus being the opportunities and hurdles that are present to adopt pharmacogenetic testing into clinical practise in Northern Ireland to prevent drug-related side effects and life-limiting adverse reactions.

The workshop in the afternoon aimed to collate multi-disciplinary experience and identify priority projects to collaborate together and seek funding to address the agreed unmet clinical needs.
